Invercargill Golf Courses
A popular sport in New Zealand, golf courses can be found all around the country. If you’re looking for Southland golf courses, Invercargill has it’s own share of golf courses to enjoy a day out on the greens. Currently, there are three active golf courses in Invercargill: one at Queens Park Golf Club in Central Invercargill, Invercargill Golf Club (Otatara Links) in Otatara in the South, and Greenacres Country Club in the north.
If you want to venture outside of the city to visit other Southland golf courses, there are about 2 dozen courses in the region. We’ve highlighted some of the most popular Southland golf courses near Invercargill including Riverton Golf Club, Tokanui Golf Club, Gore Golf Club, and Ringa Ringa Golf Club in Stewart Island.
Invercargill Golf Club (Otatara Links)
Invercargill Golf Club is based in Otatara and is a full 18-hole golf course. This highly-ranked course is the top championshiop course in Southland. It is surrounded by trees and has hazards, bunkers and roughs. There are several tees so it’s accessible to players at all levels.
The Men’s course is a Par 72 with a length of 5628m. The course rating is a 70.3 with a Slope rating of 118. Men’s club day is on Saturday with tee off at 11:45am.
The Ladies’ Course is a Par 74 with a length of 5135m. The Ladies’ course has a rating of 73.1 and a Slope Rating of 124. Ladies’ club day is on Tuesday at 10am.
Invercargill Golf Club Pricing

SBS Bank Members 18 Holes: $30
Adult 9 Holes: $25
School Student U19: $15
Cart Hire: $45 for visitors and $25 for Members. SBS Bank Members get a special discount for a total of $20. 9 Hole rental is also available for $20.
Golf Equipment: Club Hire is $20 and is available at the Otatara Golf Centre. They also have a trundler hire for $5 and Half Hour Golf Lesson for $40.
Queens Park Golf Club
In central Invercargill in Queens Park is the Queens Park Golf Club. This course is a full 18 holes spread around the park. It is mostly flat with bunkers on some holes. Most holes are relatively straight with narrow fairways, and trees line the edge of the course.
The Men’s course is a Par 71 with a length of 5444m. The course rating is a 69.10 with a Slope rating of 119. Men’s club day is on Saturday with tee off at 8am and noon.
The Ladies’ Course is Par 74 with a length of 5212m. The Ladies’ course has a rating of 73.20 and a Slope Rating of 123. Ladies’ club day is on Tuesday at 10am.

Greenacres Country Club
A full 18-hole course about 10 minutes north of the city centre, Greenacres Country Club has is a tree-lined course that also has a driving range. With water hazards and firm fairways year-round, the course is excellent for practice or for expert play.
The Men’s course is a Par 72 with a length of 5814m. The course rating is a 70.5 with a Slope rating of 120. Men’s club day is on Saturdays.
The Ladies’ Course is a Par 72 with a length of 4958m. The Ladies’ course has a rating of 70.6 and a Slope Rating of 117. Ladies’ club days are Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

Driving Range: The driving range is open 9am to 4:30 PM daily and until 6:30pm Tuesdays and Wednesdays. A bucket of balls has about 45 balls and costs $8. 2 Buckets are $15 and 3 buckets go for $20. Clubs are available for use at no cost.
Riverton Golf Club
A 9-hole sand-based course in Riverton, this course has rising and falling fairways, several out of bounds fences, and water hazards that make many take a cautious approach.
The Men’s course is a Par 72 with a length of 5495m. The course rating is a 69.2 with a Slope rating of 114. Men’s club day is on Saturdays with tee off at 12:30 pm.
The Ladies’ Course is a Par 74 with a length of 5051m. The Ladies’ course has a rating of 71.8 and a Slope Rating of 119. Ladies’ club day is Wednesday with tee off at 10 am.

Tokanui Golf Club
With the potential for strong winds, this course 9-hole course near the ocean can either be very straightforward or incredibly challenging. The course is the southernmost course in mainland New Zealand with sea and river views.
The Men’s course is a Par 70 with a length of 4880m. The course rating is a 65.1 with a Slope rating of 108. Men’s club day is on Saturdays with tee off at 1 pm in Summer and 12 pm in Winter.
The Ladies’ Course is a Par 70 with a length of 4880m. The Ladies’ course has a rating of 69.5 and a Slope Rating of 119.

Gore Golf Club
An 18-hole course with a couple of challenging par-three holes, the Gore Golf Club course is mostly flat with holes surrounded by trees.
The Men’s course is a Par 71 with a length of 5440m. The course rating is a 68.9 with a Slope rating of 111. Men’s club day is on Saturdays with tee off at 12:15 pm.
The Ladies’ Course is a Par 74 with a length of 5000m. The Ladies’ course has a rating of 71.3 and a Slope Rating of 117. Ladies’ club day is on Thursdays with tee off at 10:30am.

Winton Golf Club
The Winton Golf Club has a championship golf course in Central Southland with something for golfers of all levels. With fairways surrounded by trees and bunkers on several holes, this popular course is worth a visit.
The Men’s course is a Par 72 with a length of 5687m. The course rating is a 69.7 with a Slope rating of 122. Men’s club day is on Saturdays with tee off at 12:30 pm.
The Ladies’ Course is a Par 74 with a length of 5277m. The Ladies’ course has a rating of 73.1 and a Slope Rating of 122. Ladies’ club day is on Wednesdays with tee off at 10 am.
Twilight competition is on Thursday nights at 5:30 pm for golfers of all levels.

The clubhouse also has a camping area with facilities including power points, hot showers and laundry for $10 a night, making it an excellent getaway.
Ringa Ringa Golf Club (Stewart Island)
A small 6-hole golf course on Stewart Island, this unique course has incredible views of the ocean and landscapes throughout. As one of the most affordable courses with picturesque views, it’s a must-see for any golfer visiting the island.
The Men’s course is a Par 63 with a length of 3204m. The course rating is a 60.3 with a Slope rating of 103.
